NANCY YONEHIRO

Embark on a journey through the fascinating tapestry of my artistic odyssey – a tale woven with threads of Angst and Attitude. Imagine an engineer’s mind colliding head-on with the soul of an artist; that’s the paradox that birthed my creative universe.

Initially tethered to mechanical engineering, my heart yearned for the tangible over complex calculus proofs – the birth of my creative Angst. Fate played its hand, leading me across the globe with my husband, where I became a cultural sponge, absorbing the essence of each destination. I dabbled in diverse roles, from teaching English to hustling pool, embodying the very essence of Attitude.

Then came the pivotal moment – a full-throttle plunge into the world of metalsmithing. I birthed a jewelry line, awakening to the realization that metal, too, craves color. Enter enameling – a dance of precision, serendipity, and just a hint of danger – the epitome of contrasts.

My creative style is a wild ride – intuitive, intense, dimensional, and occasionally articulated. Trusting my creative brain to lead the way, I revel in the unknown, cherishing every twist and turn in the artistic journey.

Physically, my creations find a home at the Enamelists Gallery, Studio 28 at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA, where I curate as the Gallery Coordinator. Surrounded by a melting pot of creativity, visitors from across the globe fuel my inspiration. Explore my eclectic metal wonders at AngstAndAttitude.com or catch a glimpse on Instagram at AngstandAttitude.

From tiny treasures to wall-swallowing marvels, metal is my playground – no favorites, just a relentless pursuit of interesting work. Whether precious metals or gemstone-laden giants, the goal is simple – to captivate and intrigue. Welcome to the world of Angst and Attitude – where contrasts collide, and creativity knows no bounds.
