
NAN LOPATA
Nan Lopata is a mixed media artist and art jeweler. After retirement from a career in the military, Nan enrolled in East Carolina University’s metal arts program and graduated with a BFA with highest honors. Her work has won numerous awards including citations from the Enamelist Society, Creative Crafts Council, and the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths.
Nan’s work is represented in a number of books and publications, including The Art of Enameling, second edition, by Karen Cohen. Two of her pieces were recently acquired by the Arkansas Museum of Art. In 2019 she was commissioned by the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery to design and fabricate enamel brooches for retiring docents.
In 2016, Nan was juried into the Torpedo Factory Artists Association. She has taught classes and workshops in Northern Virginia and the DC area. Nan’s work is represented in the Emerge Gallery, Greenville NC, and the Enamelists Gallery, Alexandria VA.
