Cloisonne and Enameling

After graduating from Oberlin College in 1969, I moved to San Francisco, CA, where I met two other artists and joined with them to form The Cloisonné Collection in 1979. Jointly, we learned enameling and jewelry metalwork to create contemporary cloisonné art jewelry, working collectively for four years. Together with them, and then on my own, I have participated in over 75 art and craft shows and exhibitions.

I have also been a member of, and served on the Boards of professional enameling and arts organizations, including the Enamelist Society, the National Enamelist Guild, A. Salon, Ltd., the Enamelists Gallery, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center, where I also maintained a studio from 2005 to 2020. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching cloisonné group classes and individual students and giving workshops. I was honored to present an invitational lecture on “Cloisonne in the United States” to faculty and students at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China in 2012.

Currently, I am a member of the Enamelists Gallery at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA where I continue to create one-of-a-kind, and limited edition cloisonné pieces of art jewelry and wall pieces. The objectives of my work include quality craftsmanship, visual depth, personal expression, use of a variety of color shading techniques, careful surface finishing, and wearability. Imagery ranges from traditional to contemporary, representational to abstract. Custom orders are welcome. In my spare time, I particularly enjoy reading in many subject areas, word puzzles, and traveling.
